Directions for Use (Official Drug Facts)

For rectal use only. Remove one suppository from packaging and insert rectally. Maximum 1 suppository in 24 hours, unless directed by a healthcare provider. Do not use laxatives if you have abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting unless directed by a doctor.

Warnings

Consult a doctor before use if you have a sudden change in bowel habits lasting more than 2 weeks, or if you have used laxatives for more than 1 week. 

Rectal discomfort or burning sensation may occur. 

Stop use and seek medical care if rectal bleeding occurs, or if no bowel movement occurs within 1 hour after use. 

Keep out of reach of children. 

If ingested accidentally, contact poison control center right away.

Why does it work quickly? Glycerin suppositories exert a local hyperosmotic effect in the rectum, drawing fluid and stimulating defecation. It generally works faster than oral fiber supplements. It is intended for occasional constipation and is not a long-term daily bowel management solution.

Can it be used consecutively? Do not use continuously for more than 1 week without medical guidance. Recurrent constipation, abdominal pain or bleeding needs evaluation for underlying causes instead of increasing suppository frequency.
