Children's Motrin Ibuprofen Oral Suspension, Berry Flavor 

Active Ingredient: Ibuprofen 100 mg per 5 mL (NSAID, pain reliever/fever reducer), for children ages 2–11. 

Purpose: Temporarily relieves minor aches and pains due to colds, flu, sore throat, headache, toothache; reduces fever. Berry flavored oral suspension, includes measuring cup. Shake well before use.

Directions 

Dose by weight:

• 24–35 lbs (2–3 yr): 5 mL
• 36–47 lbs (4–5 yr): 7.5 mL
• 48–59 lbs (6–8 yr): 10 mL
• 60–71 lbs (9–10 yr): 12.5 mL
• 72–95 lbs (11 yr): 15 mL 

Repeat every 6–8 hours as needed, maximum 4 doses in 24 hours. Consult doctor for children under 2 years. Use the supplied measuring cup, do not use household spoon. May be given with food or milk if stomach upset occurs.
 

Warnings 

Ask a doctor before use if child has dehydration, vomiting/diarrhea, kidney disease, stomach problems, asthma, heart disease, or takes diuretics, blood thinners, steroids or other NSAIDs. 

Do not use if allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin or other pain relievers/fever reducers. Do not use right before or after heart surgery. Stop use and ask a doctor if fever/pain lasts more than 3 days, no improvement within first day, black/bloody stool, vomiting blood, trouble breathing or rash appears.

Product Information 

Contains sodium 2 mg per 5 mL. Store at 20–25°C. Do not use if safety seal is broken. 

Inactive ingredients: Acesulfame Potassium, Anhydrous Citric Acid, D&C Yellow No.10, FD&C Red No.40, Flavor, Glycerin, Polysorbate 80, Pregelatinized Starch, Purified Water, Sodium Benzoate, Sucrose, Xanthan Gum.

Pharmacist Note 

Weight-based dosing is preferred, as kids of same age vary greatly in weight. Always shake well and use the included measuring cup for accurate dosing. 

Children’s Motrin and Children’s Advil both contain ibuprofen. Do not take them together. If switching brands, follow the ibuprofen dosing guideline. 

Seek medical care if fever or pain lasts over 3 days or no relief on day one. Go to doctor immediately if child is lethargic, has breathing trouble or obvious dehydration.
