Strong-aroma Tieguanyin is processed according to “traditional semi-fermentation” for making green tea leaves and is baked at relatively high temperatures. The appearance color, after high-temperature action, has its chlorophyll destroyed, turning the color dark, glossy, and deepened. Due to the complete removal of moisture, the strips are slightly lighter (during the baking process, a considerable amount of water is lost, or almost no moisture remains). The aroma is pure; the decomposition and caramelization of sugar substances give the tea caramel fragrance, roasted rice aroma, and other distinctive fragrance types. The taste is mellow and thick, with strong sweetness and strong returning sweetness, and is also commonly called “ripe tea” or “ripe Tie.”

Main characteristics of strong-aroma type: easy to store, rich liquor, relatively warm in nature, mellow flavor, and full-bodied mouthfeel. Properly stored strong-aroma Tieguanyin is like a pot of aged fine wine—the longer it is kept, the more mellow the taste becomes, the clearer the mouthfeel, and the richer the orchid fragrance. The longer it is stored, the higher the quality becomes.。
