TIN VIETNAMESE PREMIUM FISH SAUCE 41N CERAMIC 16.9 oz
Description
Tin Fish Sauce is the first press, traditional, well brewed with premium black anchovy in old age wooden barrels.
It has over 300 year history in Phan Thiet (Central of Vietnam). This best selling fish sauce was kept in ceramic bottles, carried and sold across Vietnam hundreds of years ago.
The name itself “TIN” means “ceramic bottle” in Vietnamese. In truth, That’s how Vietnamese kept and carried fish sauce years ago.
Key traits of Tin fish sauce:
• First-press only: It uses only the very first extract from fermenting barrels (called “rin” or “nuoc mam nhi”), not mixed with later, weaker extracts.
• High protein content: Traditional Tin sauces often show a high “°N” protein value (like 40–60N), which correlates with greater fish-derived proteins and richer umami flavor.
The Costco Version is 41N.
• Traditional aging: They are typically fermented long (often 12–24 months) and may be stored and lightly aged in ceramic earthenware pots (tĩn), which historically sheltered the sauce and deepened the flavor.
• No preservatives — and is often prized for its purity.
• Taste & appearance: It’s usually deeper amber, richer, thicker, and more full-bodied, with a salty opening and a sweet fish-umami finish
