Mucinex DM 12 Hour Cough & Congestion Tablets 20ct 1 box

Product Highlights 

Per tablet: Guaifenesin 600 mg (expectorant) + Dextromethorphan HBr 30 mg (cough suppressant). 

Dual-action formula: Loosens and thins mucus to help productive coughing; temporarily relieves cough and coughing urge caused by common cold or inhaled irritants. 

12-hour extended-release: For adults and children 12 years and older, helps control cough day and support rest at night.

Directions 

Adults & children 12 years and over: 1–2 tablets every 12 hours, maximum 4 tablets in 24 hours. 

Swallow whole with a full glass of water. Do not crush, chew or break. 

May be taken with or without food. 

Do not use in children under 12 years of age.

Safety Warnings 

Do not use if you are taking MAOI, or within 14 days after stopping MAOI. 

Consult a doctor before use for persistent chronic cough from smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or cough with excessive mucus. 

Stop use and see a doctor if cough lasts more than 7 days, recurs, or comes with fever, rash, persistent headache. In case of overdose, call poison control or emergency room right away.

Notes Can I take Mucinex DM when there is lots of phlegm? 

Guaifenesin thins mucus while dextromethorphan reduces cough intensity. 

Seek medical evaluation first if you have heavy mucus, shortness of breath or prolonged cough, do not rely only on this product. 

Why swallow whole? 

It is a 12-hour extended-release bilayer tablet. 

Crushing or chewing breaks the controlled-release design and may cause rapid drug release with higher risk of side effects. 

Can it be taken with antidepressants? 

MAOI is contraindicated with a 14-day waiting period. Check with your doctor or pharmacist for other serotonin-affecting medicines to avoid drug interactions.
