About the Product

OTOBOKE MAME: The Quintessential Japanese Savory Snack
From the Heart of Tokyo: A 160-Year Legacy

Otoboke Mame is the signature, beloved creation of Mame Gen, a renowned confectioner founded in the sophisticated Azabu-Juban district of Tokyo in 1865. While the name "Otoboke" translates to "feigned ignorance," the flavor profile is anything but accidental—it is the result of centuries of dedication to quality.

This traditional Japanese bean snack (mame-gashi) offers a truly unique taste experience that captures the essence of Japanese Umami.

The Secret of the "Amajio" Flavor

What makes Otoboke Mame an absolute favorite? It's the surprising, perfect harmony of flavors:

• Seaweed (Nori): Deep, earthy oceanic Umami.

• Shrimp (Ebi): A subtle, savory sweetness.

• Aonori (Green Laver): A delicate, fragrant green-tea-like aroma.

• Crisp Coating: A satisfying, light crunch that makes it addictive.

This unique blend creates a complex "Amajio" (Sweet and Savory) profile, delivering rich flavor and a satisfying, crisp crunch with every bite.

Why Otoboke Mame is a Must-Buy

1. High-Quality Souvenir: Packaged elegantly, it represents the finest tradition of Japanese confectionery.

2. Sophisticated Snacking: The perfect companion for green tea, coffee, or as a flavorful appetizer with beer or sake.

3. Healthy Alternative: Made primarily from beans and rice, it offers a healthier, plant-based alternative to highly processed snacks.

Taste the history and the Umami of Tokyo's most beloved bean snack!
