Laxmi Split Red Lentils, is my preferred brand of red lentils. This is a repurchase more times than I can remember. It can be used in soups, curries, savory and sweet snacks, cooked in rice etc. Here I prepared dal with red Lentils and split urad. It’s an absolute amazing peas to make dal. It was served with steamed Sona Masoori rice, curried flat beans and coconut choka. Supper was a hit.
Good quality beans at a cheap price, I will buy again.
I use a lot of red lentils and in the past have bought whole masoor, but the split and skinned dal will cut down prep time for some recipes.

A great lentil for dal. I always use masoor(red) dal as the base and mix with one or two other dal varieties. I also like to add carrots, onions, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, cilantro, butter/oil, and a bunch of spices like cumin seeds, mustard seeds, chili powder, turmeric, bay leaf, and a lot of salt.
