It smelled so bad that even after scrubbing it twice with coarse salt and rinsing it with water, it still smelled, and it was tough, perhaps because it wasn't baked enough. I think I need to scrub it thoroughly with flour and bake it until crispy.

Not bad. Turn it over and quickly remove any debris and lymph nodes (very few). Add salt and flour and rub it in. After rinsing, soak it in vinegar and pepper for about 10 minutes. How about that? Clean, right? The smell isn't too strong either.

So, so good!! Rinse, cut into pcs, boil x 30 mins with your preferred seasonings, drain well, cool down in the fridge then air fry x 10 mins. Voila!! Yummy chicharon bulaklak!!
