The rice arrived in a cardboard box! Until now, it was delivered in bags, which was inconvenient, but this is a fantastic improvement and I'm very happy with it.
It has a lighter, more fluffy texture than a chewy one. Apparently, it retains moisture well and is suitable for rice balls and other similar dishes. It's tastier than the Nishiki rice I bought before. I'm grateful to be able to buy Japanese-grown rice.

I purchased this on August 13, 2026. The rice I received was milled on November 26, 2025, meaning it had already been milled about eight months prior to purchase. I understand that Japanese rice sold overseas takes time to circulate, but since this product was labeled "new rice" and cost $34.99 for 5kg, I expected a more recent milling date. I contacted customer service, but they replied that "it's stored in a quality-controlled environment, so there's no problem," and I couldn't return it. I think it would be much more reassuring if the milling date was available before purchase.
It was new rice. There were very few broken grains, and the rice was beautiful.

The rice arrived on June 24th, and the milling date was November 26th of last year. It was milled exactly seven months ago. Rice is heavy, so I appreciate the delivery service. I like this rice, but I'm still trying other types to see the differences in grain size, taste, and texture, and to figure out what type of rice I prefer.
