I ran out of this and bought a different one at the mart near my house, but it smelled too much like flour. I think this one tastes good.

I purchased this on August 13, 2026. The rice I received was milled on November 26, 2025, meaning it had already been milled about eight months prior to purchase. I understand that Japanese rice sold overseas takes time to circulate, but since this product was labeled "new rice" and cost $34.99 for 5kg, I expected a more recent milling date. I contacted customer service, but they replied that "it's stored in a quality-controlled environment, so there's no problem," and I couldn't return it. I think it would be much more reassuring if the milling date was available before purchase.

I find it very useful for making udon noodles, monjayaki, and other dishes.

The rice arrived in a cardboard box! Until now, it was delivered in bags, which was inconvenient, but this is a fantastic improvement and I'm very happy with it.

Love the taste and texture of it

Great quality and you get a lot in the bag! The bonito flakes have a nice smoky, savory flavor and taste really fresh. Definitely worth keeping in the pantry!

When you really crave ramen or abura soba, adding this to soy sauce-based soup will give it richness and umami, instantly making it taste like the real thing (in Japan)! It also adds a nice sheen, so it's great for teriyaki too.
